FINE TUNE WRIST LANYARDS FOR MAXIMUM WORKSITE SAFETY, INCREASED PRODUCTIVITY AND EASE OF USE.

Gear Keeper® Modular Wrist Lanyard Systems For Small Hand Tools Offers Many Tethering Options.
a
Gear Keeper’s new retractable and non-retractable wrist lanyard systems for tools up to 2.5 Kg. are particularly valuable when a short drop length is critical or when climbing or working in close quarters. Productivity is increased by the company’s patented Quick Q/C and Q/C-II Connect tool attachment connectors that permit secure, fast and easy connection / disconnection of tools. Users can change out and use many tools with just one lanyard by fitting additional male connectors to all tools being used and merely unclick one tool and attach another.
The modularity of Gear Keeper tethering system offers the flexibility needed to safely and specifically match the tool, worker and application. Unlike an ‘off-the-shelf’ lanyard, which can actually become a safety hazard, all Gear Keeper tethering systems insure dependable safety and quality by the company’s stringent quality control systems. QA includes dynamic and static testing, drop load testing with up to a 100% safety margin and cycle testing for safe productive use and long-life.
Two Gear Keeper wrist lanyards that are among the popular choices of safety engineers are the model TL1-2006 Retractable Wrist Lanyard for tools up to 0,5 Kg and the non-retractable model #TL1-2007 Deluxe Wrist Lanyard for tools up to 2,5 Kg. Both types offer Velcro wrist straps and are available in high visibility safety orange with serial numbers to satisfy traceability standards.

THREE NEW GEAR KEEPER SUPER COIL™ TETHERING SYSTEMS FOR ANCHORING TOOLS UP TO 11 KG.

When Selecting Tool Tethers, Shock Loads Are A Significant Concern For Worker Safety.
1
Three new Gear Keeper Super Coil™ tethering systems for anchoring tools up to 11 Kg.

Tethering heavy tools, generally over 5 Kg, is a significant safety concern.
A dropped 11 Kg tool that is tethered will have a shock load exceeding 150 Kg.
If tethered to a person, it is more than enough to dislodge the worker from his perch. The new, heavy-duty 2,5 cm (1”) Super Coil Anchored Tethering System is easily attached (anchored) to a fixed structure such as high-rise bucket or scaffolding. Anchoring the tether transfers the shock load produced by a dropped tool from the worker to the structure.

Designed for heavy tools and instruments up to 11 Kg, Hammerhead Industries, manufacturers of Gear Keeper industrial tool tethering systems, has announced three new 2,5 cm (1”) Super Coil anchored tool tethering systems.
Each of the new anchored tethers is intended for attachment to a fixed structure rather than to a person. Engineered to avoid or minimize entanglement, the three new 2,5 cm (1”) Super Coil Anchored Tethering Systems boast a short retracted length 104 cm.

Each of the Super Coil Tethering Systems provides an ample working radius for applications requiring tools like power drills, nail guns, power drivers and other heavier weight tools. The Super Coil’s inner coil system is fully enclosed in rugged nylon orange webbing that increases the tether’s overall strength and durability even under tough on-the-job conditions. The new Gear Keeper models are produced in high visibility orange color and feature a tag that shows the weight of the tool appropriate for the tether as well as traceability info such has date manufactured.

To suit a variety of tethering needs, the ‘Anchored’ tethers are available in three configurations. Options include a choice of drop lengths, and working area dimensions; Non-conductive stainless steel carbineers for tools with attachment points and a fixed loop attachment strap for tools that don’t – for example, when a large handled tool such as a chain saw needs tethering, the worker simply slip-knots the ‘fixed loop’ over the handle.
2
The model TL1-4025 is a flexible, low profile coil system that provides a 3 meter working radius for tools like power drills, nail guns, power drivers and other heavier weight tools.

For tools that have attachment points, the Model TL1-4021 (€ 46,99) has two stainless steel carabiners for attaching to the tool and the structure and provides a 3 meter working area; For tools that don’t have a suitable attachment point, the Model TL1-4025 (€ 42,99) with one stainless steel carabiner for attachment to the structure and a fixed loop for easy attachment to virtually any tool and also provides a 3 meter working area; For shorter drop lengths, the Model TL1-4026 (€ 39,99) with one stainless steel carabiner for attachment to the structure and a fixed loop for easy attachment to the tool; this model provides a 180 cm working area. The company offers bulk discounts for 50 or more units.

“All Gear Keeper tool tether ratings are load tested with up to a 100% safety margin, beyond the break point, to safely handle the shock load,” said John Salentine, VP of Hammerhead Industries. “Tool tethering is a site safety issue and safety starts with the proper mating of the tool, tether and application to ensure productivity and safety in the work environment.”

PRESIDENT LINCOLN-2, OLD LEGEND STILL ALIVE?

In the 1980’s one of the most popular CB/10Meter radios in Europe was the President LINCOLN.

eenPhoto: President Lincoln

MADE BY UNIDEN
The radio was manufactured by Uniden Corporation Japan in one of their Far East factories. For the USA market, Uniden supplied the Uniden HR2830 and similar models.
In the 1970’s Uniden supplied in USA their CB transceivers under the brandname President. But to promote the Uniden brandname they started using the Uniden name for their transceivers.
For the European CB market, there was only the President brandname.

(Note: Approx. 1 week ago, in my blog about President Grant-2 , I explained that Uniden is changing the name of the CB models now into BEARCAT.)

But back to the 80s. Because of the name switch in the USA and some model upgrades and downgrades, the following types came on the USA market: Uniden HR-2510, President HR-2510, Uniden HR-2600, Uniden HR-2800, Uniden HR-2830. Maybe I haven’t even seen all the variations there were in those days.

FCC NOT HAPPY
All these models were strictly sold as a 10 meter HAM radio, but could be modified to a 11 meter band as well. The FCC in the USA was not happy with this modification, so Uniden changed the processor and the models could not easily be modified anymore.
At a certain point Uniden decided to stop the sales of these models in the USA in order to no longer have problems with the FCC. But there continued to be a huge demand for this radio. So USA companies started to import the President Lincolns from Europe. That might seem a little strange at first, but President in Europe is an independent company and not a daughter company from Uniden Japan.
In the early 90s several parts for the Lincoln were discontinued and Uniden decided to stop the production of the legendary LINCOLN altogether.

POPULAR LEGEND
The President Lincoln was popular because it was a GOOD radio without any problems. Even now after 30 years, there are still many operators on CB and 10 meter that use this radio. It is an AM/FM/SSB/CW radio with good power and never lets you down.
Uniden is not into the 10 meter radio business anymore, but President in Europe wanted to have a new version of old Lincoln, so they started to develop the new LINCOLN-2.

drie

LINCOLN-2
President wanted the Lincoln-2 to be as good as the original one. This is not easy to achieve, since Uniden is famous for its quality.
It took President a long time to find a good factory that would qualify for production, because of their high demands.
In December 2013 the first production was made, and when that lot came on the market in January 2014, they were all sold within days.

vierPhoto: I was excited to get my first sample of Lincoln-2.

At President they knew they had a hit. The legend was still alive !
But they had not expected the public to be that eager on purchasing the new Lincoln-2. So now it is only the end of February and we are already waiting for a new production to arrive in Europe. Let’s hope the new stock will arrive around March/April.
On internet forums and YouTube you can find many reviews about the Lincoln-2. Everyone seems quite happy with the looks, functions and quality. Personally I think there will be a big competition between Grant-2 and Lincoln-2. But in the end it will be the user who decides what he is buying. But for now: the legend is back !

AT THE DROP OF A HAT… YOU COULD CAUSE A LOT OF DAMAGE TO THE WORKSITE.

New Retractable Gear Keeper© Hardhat Lanyard adds more security to fall-protection harness systems.

1 helm
The new hardhat lanyard is load tested to safely tether all commonly used industrial hardhats. The RT5-5601 is easily attached with Velcro strap loops and cinches around the fall protection harness strap, ring or tri-bar.

In the unfortunate event of a fall, a fall-arrest harness will protect the worker, but as his hardhat continues the descent, a fall-arrest harness won’t protect the work site. Designed for use with all fall-protection harness systems, the retractable RT5-5601 Hardhat Lanyard System is the missing safety link.

Dropped from aloft, a hardhat is a one-pound unguided missile that endangers the entire worksite. It’s an accident that can be virtually eliminated with Hammerhead Industries’ innovative Gear Keeper RT5-5601 Hardhat Lanyard Retention System.

The new hardhat lanyard is load tested to safely tether all commonly used industrial hardhats. The RT5-5601 is easily attached with Velcro strap loops and cinches around the fall protection harness strap, ring or tri-bar. It is designed to keep the lanyard close to the body to avoid discomfort and entanglement.

The new lanyard uses a sturdy, industrial-grade spectra/nylon line that extends up to 35 centimeter. For additional safety, the Gear Keeper Hardhat Lanyard model RT5-5601 features a gentle 70 gram retraction force that takes up any unused slack. And, when it’s time to break for lunch, the Gear Keeper hardhat lanyard allows the worker to take off his hardhat and drape it over his shoulder for safekeeping.

With the new Gear Keeper Hardhat Lanyard, securing a hardhat is quick and easy thanks to the unit’s convenient snap clip mount. The retractable lanyard’s stainless steel spring, hardware and high-impact case allow it to stand up to daily rigorous use of workers on the job. And, when workers are ready to call it a day, Gear Keeper’s patented Quick Connect™ System allows the hardhat to be easily disconnected without completely removing the lanyard’s base.

The Hardhat Lanyard System model RT5-5601 retails for € 14,99 excl VAT.. Contact Avera-distributing for special bulk pricing.

“All Gear Keeper lanyard and tether ratings are load tested with up to a 100% safety margin, beyond the break point, to safely handle the shock.

The guide’s ‘Select the Right Tether in Four Easy Steps’ chart is designed as a quick reference that will aid safety professionals when selecting appropriate tethers for tools up to 12 kilogram load,” said John Salentine, VP of Gear Keeper.

“Gear tethering is a site safety issue and safety starts with the proper mating of the tool, tether and application to ensure continued productivity and safety in the work environment.”

PRESIDENT GRANT-2

eenPhoto: President Grant-2

Recently President introduced a new CB Transceiver , the GRANT-2.
It is an AM/FM/SSB Transceiver for the European CB market and covers Multi (6) European standards and has many functions and features.
Grant-2 brings a complete new look to the President models that are on the market. It is a much more professional look than the regular CB Radio range and comes close or is equal to amateur radio looks.
On internet you can find many enthusiastic video’s and reviews about the looks and quality of this new radio. The users seem to be very happy with this new radio.

UNIDEN
Most President CB Transceivers are made by Uniden, a Japan based company with production plants in several Asian countries and sales offices all over the world.
Uniden is well-known for the quality of their products.
Uniden USA is based in Texas. On the American market they sell a wide range of CB Radio’s and Uniden-Bearcat scanners. In 2013 Uniden started to change the Uniden brand name for CB Radio’s in to BEARCAT.

twee

BEARCAT 980
For the new President Grant-2 Uniden used the same tooling as for the USA model BEARCAT 980SSB.
Although the tooling used for President Grant-2 and Bearcat 980SSB is the same, the radios are different.
Grant-2 is AM/FM/SSB while Bearcat 980SSB is only AM/SSB.

driePhoto: USA Model BEARCAT 980SSB, same tooling as President Grant-2.

DISPLAY COLORS
The biggest difference in the looks of the radio is the display.
For the display back lighting of President Grant-2 the operator can switch between ORANGE and GREEN.
But the American operator of Bearcat 980 can switch between 7 colours.
It is not clear why the Grant-2 has only 2 colours, maybe it is a matter of cost or maybe it was a technical issue.

vierWHAT IS NEXT?

Technically the President Grant-2 is a great product, it has a professional look and is definitely a valuable addition to the range of President CB Transceivers.

It just makes you wonder, what is next ?
